“Wear Gratitude (like a sweater)” by Susan Talan

Review by Maria C.

"Wear Gratitude (like a sweater)" by Susan TalanI was hanging around my mom’s job at Chelsea Market Baskets. I sat there looking away, listening to music on my phone blocking out everything else that wasn’t my beloved music, I always put one earbud in and let one earbud out because I can’t completely block out the world when I am constantly greeting and meeting people, co- workers, and newfound friends. I was invited to make a blogpost about the book “Wear Gratitude (like a sweater)” by Susan Talan.

image1    I thought this book was going to be about the simple acts of gratitude in the world from a day to day basis, saying thank     you, acknowledging the people who are surrounding us constantly, etc. I came to find the book talks through quotes, two quotes lingered in my mind and stayed there. Quote #1″It is the mind that makes the body”-Sojourner truth, and quote #2″where words fail, music speaks.”- Hans Christian Andersen. I believe in this book there is a quote for everybody. I never thought about the mind making the body but vice versa, now that I think about it the body overall reflects a person somewhat, I don’t think fully but partially.

When it comes to music it is a very important thing for me, thats how I understand myself, some people with books, some people with drawings, some people with poems, some people through exercise etc. My favourite part of the book is when she makes the comparison of wearing a sweater to wearing gratitude. Overall the book ” Wearing Gratitude (like a sweater)” is a sweet book, it’s about kindness and about the world, and love, and about much more than gratitude.
