February is Chocolate Month at Chelsea Market Baskets!

Here at CMB, we have a pretty serious chocolate addiction. There’s not an employee in the house who doesn’t have an emergency bar in their bag (though they don’t all admit it), and we are constantly tasting new brands in hopes of discovering the next great snack (yeah, we love our jobs). So, it is with utmost excitement that we announce that February is Chocolate Month at CMB!

Come share in our bounty as we sample chocolate every day in February. There will be promotions along with the tastings so you can enjoy and save, so check back often (and hungry!). To give you a taste, here are three brand new varieties we’re excited to feature this month:

Willie’s Cocoa

David saw Willie’s Cocoa again at the West Coast Fancy Food Show and decided to commit and air product in for February. Willie Harcourt-Cooze is an English chocolate guru, owning a plantation in Venezuela as well as having an English TV show and authoring a few books on the subject. Special for Valentine’s Day, we’re bringing in their 5 Wonders of the World Gift Pack ($22.95), which includes five single origin bars from around the world and a coordinating illustrated map. Give your sweetie’s taste buds a ’round-the-world ticket! Individual bars are also available for $4.95 each.

Chocolate and Love

Chocolate and Love. Need we say more? Perfect for the day of St. Valentine, these gorgeously-wrapped bars (2 for $10) boast high quality cacao from Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Panama, all fair trade and organic. Nothing like a little love for farmers with your chocolate. To sweeten the deal for our blog readers, we’re offering a Valentine’s Day Special: an assortment of five Chocolate and Love bars for only $20. Just say Love Chocolate when you check out!

Guittard Chocolate

Guittard is often considered the best domestic coverture, and we’re happy to say you can now buy it at CMB. We are carrying Guittard baking bars and chips in semisweet and extra dark varieties ($3.95 – $5.95). At last week’s staff meeting, we melted extra dark chips in our microwave to make delectable chocolate-covered strawberries. Helpful hint: A dollop of our Maison Orphee coconut oil mixed in helped give the chocolate coating the perfect shine and snap. Another hint: girls can’t resist boys who make them chocolate-covered strawberries. Now go forth and make something delicious.

We are also happy to announce that Prestat Earl Grey Thins are number 50 on the Saveur Top 100 Best of 2014! Other notable mentions include Staten Island and Carbone, the new downtown restaurant. We hope to share some chocolate with you soon!
